fuck the patching – let’s have some fun! – p.jit.gl.tools

toolscreenshotthe p.jit.gl tools are designed to provide for easier learning of and experimenting with the many attributes that are available to jitter’s gl objects by making them a whole lot more transparent and accessible. patches expose jitter gl object’s attributes to interfaces that allow you to immediately edit and change an attribute’s value. many of the parameters are attached to blines, which provide smooth changes while rendering, and all settings can be saved and recalled as presets using the pattrs that are embedded in the patches.

patches are based on a template from which you can build your own wrappers across the range of jitter gl objects. the package contains various example patches to get you started. you can customise your patch relatively easily and i’ve included some examples which enable you to: quickly resize the render context; enable feedback through capturing the scene to a texture; easily record the scene as a movie using the glreadpixels render-to-matrix method; and keep up to date with your gl commands using the updated p.jit.gl.sketch object.

included:
p.jit.gl.template.pat
p.jit.gl.tools.help
p.jit.gl.gridshape.pat
p.jit.gl.handle.pat
p.jit.gl.imageunit.pat
p.jit.gl.record.pat
p.jit.gl.render.context.pat
p.jit.gl.render.pat
p.jit.gl.sketch.pat
p.jit.gl.texture.pat
p.jit.gl.videoplane.pat
p.jit.window.pat
plus some bpatchers for the guis, help files and some simple sketch commands

p.storage is used throughout all the help patches. its recommended but not necessary for this package.

windows users please note: the patches make extensive use of ubumenus and setchecks to signal the current state of an attribute, as far as I know this is a feature that only works on Macs? although this doesn’t prevent the patches from functioning, you won’t get visual feedback on some attributes’ values from the drop down menus – although you can still see and edit the values using the ‘getstate’ feature. I don’t know of any work around – - suggestions and/or examples anyone?

built on a mac using max 4.6.3 and jitter 1.6.3

all feedback and comments are welcome

have you got a p.jit.gl object that you’ve made? or have you improved/added to the p.jit.gl template? if so, then why not share it with the rest of us? send me a copy and i’ll make it available on this website for everyone to share.

thanks to Andreas Wetterberg, Perry Hoberman…

changes made:

* changed name to prevent problem with wildcard on windows computers
