
Lighting can get pretty confusing, pretty quickly. what started off as an exercise in trying to consolidate my knowledge about lighting has turned into this discussion and the accompanying patches. i’m publishing it here in the hope that it might be useful to those who are new to jitter.
part 2 looks at how to make use of opengl lighting parameters using jit.gl.sketch, inputing the values via a command list.

p.storage is an abstraction/interface for max. it facilitates communication with the pattrstorage object and offers a variety of ways to manage your presets and settings.

the big D day arrived and … well, it just went. the australians and asians, followed by the europeans spent the day resetting their browsers to cycling 74’s site, finding nothing new, and then, finally, sleeping. i’m not sure what time it finally happened but, hey, i was sleeping too. i would have loved to have been a fly on the wall in cycling’s offices the day they were releasing max 5. i imagine that the stress levels there were rising by the minute…
i’ve provided links to five films that i’ve made with brede korsmo over the last couple of years or so and are now available to watch on utube. they are: the arsonist, kalt, homage to the lost, heroin and police state.
i got tired of patching up the same old boxes when making a jitter opengl patch so started to design something that would be easy to call up and that would expose all the attributes to give me quick access to their values. this is what i came up with: p.jit.gl.* tools - a set of patches based around a template that can be used and customised for any jitter gl object.

following the success of our previous collaborations, I’m teaming up with brede korsmo again to produce a piece about finding our way in the city.
the light surgeons have brought together a series of installations with contributions from chris allen, rob rainbow, tim cowie, james price, lenka clayton, pete codling, marion lefebvre, millimetre and blast theory. also onedotzero are curating screenings, Q&As, sound installations and talks. the exhibition runs from 1st december to 10th december and is at the bargehouse, southbank, london.

finally i’ve got around to adding the new category that will host some Max/MSP/Jitter posts and patches for download. include in this first batch is p.decimator, p.storage, p.gl.sketch and some other Jitter files relating to the opengl commands glloadmatric and glmultmatrix.
